Recently shut down, this place will be sorely missed. Hundreds and hundreds of people from Johnstown have worked here over the many decades.
Ann Marie Brand tells how the shutting down of this mill has affected most of the dogs on W. Clinton St. For years the 1 pm whistle of the mill blew loud and clear, especially up W. Clinton St. Well, the dogs would always start barking and howling at the first sound of the whistle.
Since the mill whistle has stopped the dogs are becoming psychotic "Pavlov Dogs!" Now at 1 pm everyday they just run around in circles whining and snorting as they just can't figure out what's missing in their life - The Knitting Mill Whistle.
