Barbara in her sitting area just off the kitchen (8/2004)
Behind her, through both windows, you can see part of her passion..... The Adirondack mountains and lakes.
In 1998 she received The Adirondack Museum's Founder's Award, given those who make significant contributions to the culture and heritage of the Adirondack Park.
In May of this year (2004) she was awarded the Adirondack Achievement Award by the Adirondack Research Consortium.
What a gal this Barbara McMartin. She, more than anyone in the last century, brought the Adirondacks to the attention of modern day America. Through her many books (over 24) she has opened up vast vistas of knowledge of this place we call home, and contributed greatly to the preservation and enhanced use of New York's Adirondack Mountains.
