Looking down Grove Ave. towards the beach. Fritzi's place is just to the right of this picture. The Caroga Hotel, on the right, burned, but the other camps are still there. Those were the days of Caroga's speakeasies. They were all over the place.

Remember the "Hollywood" a hundred yards, or so, to the left of this picture? Great nightspot that later converted to a roller rink. It burned in the 50's.

Vinnie DiMezza (he was staying at DeSantis' camp. Pat Irish's place now) and I were "camped" on the camp lawn when we were awakened by the sirens of the fire engines as they rushed to the Hollywood. Nestorest was almost directly behind it (one block away). The flames lit up our tent! We ran out of the tent and up the street (Grove Ave) to the fire. It wasn't until we got there that we realized we only had on our under shorts!
