Great Shot of Nick Stoner Island on Canada Lake

What memories this island brings back. As teenagers we would swim from either Skeet Sliter's place, or where the bridge splits Canada and Green Lake,  to the island. Rest for awhile and then swim on up to Dolgeville Point.

The camps on Dolgeville Point could only be reached by water. Most people would boat in from Sawdust Creek at West Canada Lake. We were just crazy kids who had no boat, so we "rowed" ourselves over the lake. :)

Story has it that Nick Stoner, trying to escape some Indians, swam underwater all the way to the island. He used a reed (like a straw) to breathe through while he swam underwater.
