What's Left of Sherman's Whip 1985

I can still smell the grease. Remember that smell as you headed for one of the cars? Marjorie Bacon Giebitz writes, "In the winter we'd ride our bikes around the Whip track." Marjorie was Frank Sherman's cousin.

That's the old Willie's on the right (background).

Willie's Hot Dog and Pizza, in its hey day, was always mobbed with kids. Juke box blaring away. Willie hollering at us to "go faster" as we tried to get orders out. The "Green Room."

The hot shots in their hot rods - spinning their tires on the dirt parking lot in order to REALLY "peel out" when they hit the highway blacktop - only to blow out their transmissions when they did!

I remember Willie and I laughing our heads off as the oil gushed out from under the cars. He'd  say, "great the oil will keep the dust down."

Speaking of Willie
